Learning to Carry Things African Style

I had to beg for weeks to carry the laundry basket on my head. Everyone is very considerate of my health and didn't want me to get hurt. After much pleading, I am pleased to say, I finally was able to try carrying the laundry basket to deliver clothes to the rooms African style!

Brendan is at a nearby Kingdom Hall helping with the remodel. He took two headpans full of debris, but the brothers and sisters have removed approximately ten truck fulls of debris one head pan at a time! Everyone, from children to mothers to older ones, has a share in the heavy duty headpan work. And of course, everyone had a big laugh seeing Brendan experience headpan carrying for his first time.

You'll notice that both of us are using our hands. I only need one hand because I'm half African-American. :) Most of the time though, you will see large, precarious loads being carefully balanced on the top of heads with no hands. It seems impossible, but most learn as children.
